Bird's Nest

Bird's Nest is the nickname for Beijing National Stadium because the outlook of the stadium looks like a huge bird's nest, which is the main stadium for Beijing 29th Olympic Games in August 2008. It is located at the north end of the south-north central axis which is considered as the Dragon Line of Beijing. It took almost 4 years to complete this compound and was first put into use in April 2008 for some Olympic test games. The seating capacity of the Bird's Nest is 91,000 seats and is the stadium for the Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony, Soccer Final and Athletics. There are two designers to design this architecture, one is a Swiss named Herzog and the other one is a Chinese Li Xinggang. It has been listed as one of the new Ten Architecture Wonders in this world by New York Times in 2008, and now it has become a landmark of Beijing which is more popular than some other tourist attractions in Beijing.
